Interactive videos can be set up in ion pages to help bring your content to life in a unique and engaging experience. Video can be incorporated into quizzes, assessments, lookbooks and more to provide visitors to keep visitors clicking and moving through your content.
Interactive videos are published in the ion platform by combining your Vimeo, Brightcove, Ooyala or HTML5 video with the Flow component and a page script that the ion team can set up for you.
To get started…
Add a standard, inline video to your page. For more information on adding a video to your ion page, click here.
Next, add a Flow component below your video in the same container. For more information on working with the Flow component, click here.
The Flow component will be used to overlay content on top of your video. Your Flow component should be set to use a 100% width and layered positioning that will control where content is displayed over the top of your video. For more information on defining widths and layered positioning, click here.
The buttons/links published into your Flow Steps will be used to take visitors to specific points in the video. You will want to publish content into your Flow Steps with the understanding that the content in each Flow Step will be displayed over the top of your video at a specific time.
When publishing content into your Flow Steps, you will want to leave the even Flow Steps blank as these steps will be used when the video plays. The odd Flow Steps will be used to house the content that overlays your video.
Don’t worry about assigning actions/behaviors to any link that is meant to interact with the video as we will take care of this part as part of the script setup.
A customized script is used to enable the buttons and links published into your Flow Steps to interact with the video. Provide your account manager a link to the creative where you have set up your video and Flow component setup as well as confirmation of which parts of the video should play when each button/link is clicked (including the start time and end time of that part of the video).
If you prefer, we are also happy to include setting up the Flow component and video as a service project once we are provided with the video itself and a description of which buttons/links should be used to show which parts of the video.
*NOTE: Copying a creative with an interactive video may require updates to the custom script that was set up. In the event you need to copy the creative, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org to discuss the necessary updates to the script in the copy.
